In this week’s class Jesse Miller came into our classroom to discuss privacy and online safety. He is the founder of ‘Mediated Reality,’ a company focusing on imparting education on technology as we continually move into an ever evolving technology based world.  He stressed the overall importance of keeping your personal, social, and professional life separate online. This is a concept I have certainly given some thought to recently; however, Jesse’s lecture gave me more insight to its significance. Jesse stressed that there is a time and place for each individual use of social media, however, issues can arise when two or more aspects of one’s life begin to cross paths and meld together. Jesse sought to impart on our class how to remain appropriate in various scenarios; the crux of this was ensuring to keep your work identity both online and in person entirely professional at all times.
